Transient expression in cucumber cotyledons and fruit
Functional analyses of cucumber genes are limited due to the lack of efficient production of genetically engineered cucumber lines. One widely used, and relatively easy approach, for testing gene function is transient expression. There are currently papers successfully reporting transient expression protocols in cucumber, however the methods are typically poorly described. We want to optimize the current protocols for transient expression in cucumber cotyledons and fruit. The ability to functionally test gene function in these tissues would help provide more evidence to bolster results from other studies.
